Dan is a member of the firm’s Government, Administrative & Environmental, Business & Corporate, Cooperative, and Frac Sand, Mining & Minerals practice groups. Dan joined Weld Riley, S.C. in 2013, after 17 years in private practice with firms in Milwaukee and Madison.
Dan has represented a wide range of individuals, businesses, non-profits, and public-sector clients in local government matters, before state and federal agencies, in business transactions, and in civil litigation. Dan also has significant experience in the areas of environmental, land use, energy and public utilities law.
Dan is a member and past chair of the Board of Directors of the Public Utilities Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin, and a member of the State Bar’s Environmental Section. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and Eau Claire County Bar Association. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Lawrence University, and received his M.S. and J.D. (cum laude) degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Prior to practicing law, Dan was involved in research on the fate, transport and degradation of environmental contaminants in soil and groundwater. He has also written and lectured on a variety of environmental topics for clients and professional groups.
He is admitted to practice before all Wisconsin courts, and the federal district courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin. He has received an AV Preeminent (4.9 of 5.0) Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2011-2016 editions of The Best Lawyers in America, in the areas of Energy Law, Environmental Law, and Environmental Litigation.
Dan resides in Eau Claire and is an active volunteer, advisor and board member for several non-profit organizations. In his spare time, he enjoys bicycling, kayaking, travel, spending time with friends and family, cooking, home brewing and sampling Wisconsin’s many craft beers.
