Attorney Bill Wallo will participate in “Creditors’ Rights During Bankruptcy”, May 31, 2016
Attorney Bill Wallo will participate in “Creditors’ Rights During Bankruptcy,” a day-long video webcast seminar presented by the National Business Institute on May 31, 2016. The seminar offers an in-depth examination of bankruptcy issues from the perspective of creditors and is geared for attorneys and other professionals who deal with debt collection, property management, and related issues.
The presentation will cover a broad spectrum of topics, including preliminary case evaluation (i.e., what to do, and think about, after receiving a bankruptcy notice), claims and distributions (i.e., who gets paid), the power of the automatic stay, and creditors’ rights in bankruptcy proceedings (perceptions notwithstanding, they do exist).
Bill will co-present with Jeffrey Smoot, a partner in the Seattle office of Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker, LLP, and Kevin Dunlevy, a partner at the Minneapolis firm of Beisel & Dunlevy, P.A. Bill’s sessions will include an overview of creditors’ rights by bankruptcy chapter and an in-depth examination of the automatic stay – what it is, what it covers, and how to avoid monetary penalties for violating it.
Bill is a shareholder and member of Weld Riley’s business and litigation sections. He represents individuals, business owners, companies, and lenders in a variety of transactional matters, commercial litigation, and bankruptcy, insolvency, and financial restructuring. He previously served as the career law clerk to a bankruptcy judge, is a member of the board of directors of the Wisconsin State Bar’s Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Creditor Rights Section, and is a frequent speaker on bankruptcy and commercial issues.
The NBI seminar “Creditors’ Rights During Bankruptcy” will be offered as a video webcast and runs from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. CST time on May 31, 2016.
